How to inspect a REAPER project

An .rpp is plain text, so REAPER’s projects are the easiest of all to read — this does it for you, without REAPER.

  1. Drop the project: Drop the .rpp, or the project folder so the inspector can check which media files came with it.
  2. Read the report: Third-party FX, REAPER’s own Rea-plugins and JSFX, every track with its items and FX chain, tempo, meter, sample rate and markers.
  3. Decide: Install what is missing, collect the media, or convert the project to the DAW you use.

What the inspector tells you

  • Third-party FX, apart from REAPER’s own

    REAPER ships ReaEQ, ReaComp and hundreds of JSFX, so a project full of FX may still open anywhere. The inspector separates those from the VST, AU and CLAP plugins that have to be installed.

  • Media it points at

    An .rpp names its media files. Drop the project folder and the ones that are not in it are listed as missing.

  • Nothing leaves your computer

    The project is read by this page, in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
