How to convert REAPER to Logic

REAPER saves projects as .rpp files; Logic Pro uses .logicx packages. Neither DAW opens the other's format. Doseedo converts the project itself: upload the .rpp, download a native .logicx with the arrangement rebuilt.

Why there's no built-in way

Cockos and Apple have no interchange format between them. Logic Pro cannot open a .rpp, and REAPER has no Logic export. The usual advice — render stems, export MIDI, rebuild by hand — works, but the project stops being a project: item boundaries, marker positions and the mixer layout all flatten into audio files. A native conversion keeps it editable.

How the conversion works

REAPER saves a project as an .rpp — a plain-text file Doseedo parses directly: tracks, media items, MIDI events, markers and tempo. Media items become clips at the same positions — REAPER stores item time in seconds, and the conversion maps it onto bars and beats at the project tempo — and the whole session is rebuilt natively as a .logicx project. To bring the audio along, zip the REAPER project folder (the .rpp plus its media) and upload the zip; a bare .rpp converts too, with audio referenced by external absolute paths only.

What carries over — and what doesn't

REAPER conversion is the newest direction in Doseedo's converter, and the copy here is deliberately honest. What arrives editable: tempo and time signature, the arrangement (every item becomes a clip at its real position), MIDI notes with velocities, audio clips placed where they were with the media traveling alongside, markers, and per-track volume, pan and mute.

What doesn't carry yet: FX chains and instrument state (tracks arrive named and placed, devices empty), envelopes/automation, sends, and per-item stretch. A project with tempo changes converts at its starting tempo. If your session leans on those, expect to rebuild them — the arrangement, notes and audio will be waiting.

Do I need REAPER or Logic installed?

Not to convert. The conversion runs on the project file itself. You need Logic Pro to open the result.

Can you convert a REAPER project to Logic Pro?

Yes. Upload a .rpp (or a zip of the project folder with its media) to Doseedo and download a native Logic Pro .logicx project. The arrangement, MIDI notes, audio clips, tempo, markers and track levels arrive editable.

Does REAPER export to Logic Pro?

No. REAPER has no Logic export, and Logic Pro can't open .rpp files. The only routes are rendering stems (which flattens the project) or a native converter that rebuilds the project format — that's what Doseedo does.

Do plugins carry over from REAPER to Logic?

Not yet. Tracks arrive named and placed with their MIDI and audio, but FX chains, instrument state, envelopes and sends have to be rebuilt in Logic. The conversion is honest about this rather than silently dropping things.

Do I need REAPER installed to convert a .rpp file?

No. The conversion works on the project file itself — you only need Logic Pro to open the converted result.
