Bitwig Studio saves projects as .bwproject files and exports the open DAWproject format, a .dawproject. FL Studio reads neither. Doseedo converts the exported .dawproject: upload it, download a native FL Studio .flp project with the arrangement rebuilt.

Why there's no built-in way

Bitwig’s own .bwproject format is undocumented, and FL Studio can’t open it. Bitwig Studio (5 and later) exports DAWproject — the open project format Bitwig created with PreSonus — but FL Studio doesn’t read DAWproject (see which DAWs do). So the usual route is stems, which flattens the project. Converting the exported .dawproject keeps it editable.

How the conversion works

In Bitwig Studio choose File › Export… › DAWproject and upload that one file — it carries the tracks, clips, notes, audio, mixer and plugins, with the audio inside it. Doseedo reads it and rebuilds the project as a native FL Studio .flp project. A native .bwproject can’t be read; any .dawproject converts the same way, whoever wrote it — Studio One 6.5+ and Cubase 14+ export one too.

What carries over — and what doesn't

Bitwig → FL Studio carries the arrangement, honestly scoped. What arrives editable: tracks and group tracks with their names, levels, pans and mutes; clips with every note; audio with its files (they travel inside the .dawproject); tempo and time signature; markers.

Third-party instruments and effects arrive as the same plugin with their settings, hosted through FL’s own wrapper, as long as the plugin is installed and scanned there. The format’s built-in EQ, compressor, gate and limiter don’t map to FL Studio’s native effects yet, and the report names each one. Bitwig’s own instruments and devices, CLAP plugins and clip gain don’t come across — the report names each one. Automation isn’t promised on this pair yet. Nothing is silently dropped — every conversion comes with a report of what changed.

Do I need Bitwig or FL Studio installed?

Bitwig Studio writes the .dawproject, so the export happens there — if someone already sent you the .dawproject, you don’t need Bitwig at all. The conversion itself needs no DAW; you need FL Studio to open the result.

FAQ

Can you convert a Bitwig Studio project to FL Studio?

Yes. Upload a .dawproject to Doseedo and download a native FL Studio .flp project. What arrives editable: tracks and group tracks with their names, levels, pans and mutes; clips with every note; audio with its files (they travel inside the .dawproject); tempo and time signature; markers.

Does Bitwig Studio export to FL Studio?

Not in a form FL Studio reads. Bitwig exports DAWproject, which FL Studio doesn’t import, and its own .bwproject is undocumented. Converting the exported .dawproject rebuilds the project for FL Studio — that’s what Doseedo does.

Do plugins carry over from Bitwig to FL Studio?

Third-party instruments and effects arrive as the same plugin with their settings, hosted through FL’s own wrapper, as long as the plugin is installed and scanned there. The format’s built-in EQ, compressor, gate and limiter don’t map to FL Studio’s native effects yet, and the report names each one. Nothing is faked: whatever doesn’t cross the Bitwig–FL Studio boundary is named in the conversion report.

Do I need Bitwig Studio installed to convert?

Only to export the .dawproject — Bitwig is what writes it. Converting a .dawproject needs no DAW at all; you need FL Studio to open the result.
