Convert DAW projects from an AI agent
Published October 2026
The Doseedo converter — a project in one DAW's format rebuilt natively in another's, tracks, MIDI, audio, tempo and markers editable on arrival — is one MCP tool. Connect the server and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any agent converts between Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Pro Tools, REAPER, Cubase, Dorico, Studio One and Bitwig, with GarageBand in: 75 directions. The agent compresses the project, uploads it, picks the direction (or lets the server detect the source), waits, and hands you a download — then reads the report and tells you what did not survive the trip, which is the part a web form cannot do.
The tools
doseedo_get_project_upload_url— a presigned upload for the project. The agent compresses the whole project folder, so the audio travels with the session; past 4 GB it uses the multipart variant anddoseedo_complete_project_upload.doseedo_convert_project—project_keyplus adirectionwritten<source>2<target>:logic2ableton,fl2protools,reaper2cubase,garageband2logic… orauto2<target>to let the server detect the source. An option,third_party_plugins:"disable", drops third-party AU and VST devices so the result opens clean on a machine that lacks them.doseedo_wait_task— a conversion is usually well under two minutes; the result is a pre-signed link to the converted project, valid 24 hours, plus a report of what carried and what was dropped.doseedo_import_project— the other way to use a project: open a Logic, Ableton, FL, REAPER or Pro Tools file as an editable session, change it withdoseedo_edit_session, and download or convert the result.
A conversion costs one credit, on every plan, and the quote tool says so in its own words. Real reply, captured 2026-10-15:

The recipe the server publishes for this (doseedo_recipes {name:"convert"}) puts the time at 15 seconds to 2 minutes and lists what counts as a project: a compressed project folder, or a bare .als / .flp / .rpp / .ptx / .cpr / .dorico / .mxl / .song / .dawproject, or a compressed .logicx or .band. A native Bitwig .bwproject does not — export DAWproject from Bitwig first.
What to ask
> Convert ~/Music/Logic/Bridge Demo.logicx to Ableton and
tell me what won't survive.
> Convert every .flp in ./beats to Logic, drop the third-party
plugins, and write a table of what each one lost.
> The band works in Ableton and the mix room is Pro Tools.
Take ./set.als to .ptx, and later bring the mixed .ptx back.
> This Logic project has 40 unnamed tracks. Take it through
REAPER's text format, name them from what's on each one,
and bring it back.
The last one is the pattern a web converter cannot offer: REAPER's .rpp is plain text, so an agent converts to it, edits the arrangement as text, and converts back — structural work survives; see the REAPER page.
What carries, honestly
Tracks, MIDI, audio clips, tempo and markers arrive editable in every direction. The Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools and REAPER pairs also carry automation, buses and sends, stock-plugin settings mapped to their equivalents, and third-party plugin state. Into FL Studio, third-party instruments and effects arrive with their settings, no stock effect from another DAW maps to FL's yet, and automation beyond volume, pan and tempo is reported rather than carried. The report that comes back with each conversion is specific to that project, and the general map is the breakdown, field by field. Ask the agent to read the report aloud; it is the reason to convert from an agent rather than a form.
Conversion is a project in and a project out, with the DAW closed — it works from a phone and from a server without any DAW installed. Live editing of an open project is a different capability, Logic Pro only, through Dø Desktop.
Convert one from your agent
Connect the server, compress a project folder, and ask for the conversion and the report.
The Doseedo MCP server →FAQ
Can an AI agent convert a Logic project to Ableton?
Yes. Through the Doseedo MCP server the agent uploads the zipped .logicx, calls convert_project with direction logic2ableton, waits, and hands back a native .als with tracks, MIDI, audio, tempo, markers, automation, sends and plugin state — plus a report of what was dropped. Any of the 75 directions works the same way.
Which DAWs can it convert between?
Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Pro Tools, REAPER, Cubase, Dorico, Studio One and Bitwig Studio in every direction, and GarageBand in — ten formats, 75 directions.
Does the project upload?
Yes — a conversion has to read the whole project, including its audio, so the agent compresses the folder and uploads it to a presigned URL. The converted project comes back as a pre-signed download link valid for 24 hours.
What does a conversion cost?
One credit, on every plan, from the same pool as the rest of the account. doseedo_quote prices it before the call; the desktop app converts without a counter for a one-time price.
Can it convert with Pro Tools or Logic closed, or from a phone?
Yes. Conversion is file in, file out — no DAW needs to be installed where the agent runs. From the ChatGPT or Claude phone app the project is uploaded and the download link comes back in the chat.
