Remix a song with AI
Published October 2026
An AI remix button gives you a new WAV, take it or leave it. A real remix needs the parts: the drums on their own so you can replace them, the bass line as notes so you can re-voice it, the chords so a new part fits. Doseedo gets you those parts, as a Logic or Ableton project with every instrument on its own track and the parts as MIDI. It can also re-play a part on a different instrument. The remix itself stays yours.
Take the song apart
Audio to session turns a mixed song into a project: separated stems, each on its own audio track, MIDI for the parts you choose, a chord track, and a tempo map measured from the song. This is what a 16-second big-band clip became on 29 October 2026:
Suno jazz.logicx F major · 4/4 · 44.1 kHz
tempo map 128.1 bpm on average, moving 127.8–128.6 beat by beat
audio Drums · Bass · Piano
audio Sax (section) + Sax 1–4 MIDI Sax 1–4 126 · 61 · 26 · 17 notes
audio Trombone (section) + Trombone 1–5 MIDI Trombone 1–5 89 · 33 · 17 · 13 · 7
audio Trumpet (section) + Trumpet 1–3 MIDI Trumpet 1–3 73 · 16 · 4
MIDI Piano 89 · Bass 56 · Drums 40
MIDI Chords (guide) 46 notes
buses Sax, Trombone, Trumpet: one audio bus and one MIDI bus each
From there the remix is ordinary DAW work. Mute the original drums and program new ones on the same grid. Put a synth on the bass MIDI. Loop four bars of the trumpet chair you like. Rearrange the sections. Everything lines up because everything shares the song's tempo map.
Swap an instrument
Cover can re-play one part on another instrument and leave the rest of the song as it was. In a run on the same clip, the piano was swapped for vibraphone. The receipt says what happened: the piano stem was classified first (70 of 100 notes heard as electric piano, so the source was treated as an electric piano), its notes were transcribed, and those notes were played from scratch on vibraphone, while the drums, the bass and the horns passed through as the original separated audio. Because the new part replays a transcription, expect small note differences from the source, and listen to the takes before you choose one.
The same tool can restyle a whole song toward a genre named in words ("bossa nova", "80s synth-pop"), or take its timbre from a reference mix you upload.
Only want stems?
For an acapella, an instrumental or a drum stem to sample, separate splits a song into stems without building a project.
Rights
Work only with audio you have the rights to. Separating a commercial release to remix it is fine for practice and private study, but releasing that remix needs the rights holder's licence, whatever tool made the stems.
For a song you made with an AI generator, the generator's terms decide what you may do with it. For your own recordings and the stems your collaborators send, none of this applies.
Start the remix from the parts
Upload the song and open it in Logic Pro or Ableton Live with every part on its own track.

Can AI remix a song?
AI can do the parts of a remix that used to take hours: separating the stems, transcribing the parts to MIDI, finding the tempo and the chords, and re-playing a part on another instrument. Doseedo delivers those as a Logic or Ableton project, and you make the creative decisions there.
How do I get the stems of a song to remix?
Upload it to Doseedo’s audio to session for a full project with stems, MIDI and a tempo map, or to separate for the stems alone.
Can I change one instrument in a song?
Yes. Cover re-plays a chosen part on another instrument, for example piano to vibraphone, and passes the other parts through as the original separated audio.
Which DAWs does it work with?
Logic Pro and Ableton Live projects are built directly. Doseedo’s converter takes a project on to FL Studio, Pro Tools, REAPER and others.
Is it legal to remix a song?
Remixing for practice and private study is fine. Releasing a remix of someone else’s song needs a licence from the rights holder.
